Emalyn turned four!

Emalyn had her birthday on Tues, the 29th. I can't believe she's already four years old. She's starting preschool this fall. Time just goes by too fast sometimes.
She had a birthday party with her friends, and as it was my first party to throw, I must say, I'm impressed with how well it went. She wanted to have a princess party, so we told all the girls to come as princesses.

I made her a princess tiara birthday cake.

Scott and I made this castle for the girls to color when they first arrived.

We all danced at the "ball" with ribbons,

we also made "princess play-dough" (pink play dough with glitter),

When I asked Emalyn what she wanted for her birthday, she told me she wanted a garbage can for her room. She said she needed a place to put all her garbage. She was very sincere about it. When she opened it, it was the most exciting present that she opened. Here it is:

I don't know why this movie turned out black and white, but here's the singing and blowing out the candles at the birthday party.

A few days ago, Tyler asked me to record him singing Families Can Be Together Forever. Doesn't he do a great job?

Visit with Grandma and Grandpa

This last weekend was fun and crazy. We decided last Wednesday to go to Boise to see my Grandpa and Grandma Ketcheson. We left our house Saturday morning around 7:30 am, got to Boise at 12:30pm (turns out it's a longer drive than we'd thought). But then I got to pick up my Grandma and take her to see Grandpa. We thought that Megan, Weston, Ryan, Melanie, and their kids would be their soon. However, they were all river rafting that morning, and due to alot of unforseen events, they weren't able to make it until after 4pm that afternoon. So I got Grandma and Grandpa to myself for about 3 hours. We had a good talk together. Grandpa seems to be doing better everyday. He even swallowed his pills whole on Sunday (instead of mashed up)! He's been pretty sick, and has a hard time talking. He told me some great stories though, some of were from when my dad was little.
They keep him pretty busy at the care center, with therapy daily. Part of his therapy is to play Nintendo Wii, especially bowling and golf. He said he really likes it. Who would have ever guessed that playing Nintendo would be considered therapy one day...

We stayed in the same hotel as Ryan and Melanie, and everyone went swimming that evening (Megan and Weston came too). I didn't get wet (Krysta wanted to go to bed), but it sounded like everyone had a lot of fun.
That night was HORRIBLE. I had known it would be. Staying in the same room with 2 kids and a baby was going to be hard, I knew it. But what we didn't expect was that Emalyn would fall out of her bed about every half hour. Maybe we should have moved her to the floor, but by the time we thought of that it was the middle of the night and I think then she would have put up a big fuss, and woken everyone else up. Her bed at home is just a mattress on the floor, so I guess she's not used to having that far to fall. Poor girl, and poor Scott who caught her every time. The one we expected to have trouble, was Krysta, and she did, but it wasn't that bad. She woke up around three am for about an hour, then went back to sleep. Ryan and Melanie were all in one room with their kids that night too. I can only imagine how much harder it was with 5.

The next day, we visited Grandma and Grandpa again, with the kids, so we just stayed for about half an hour. Grandma looks so pretty. It was so good to see them again. I only wish we'd gotten more pictures taken. That seems to be the story of our life, we always wish we'd remembered the camera more often. It was so fun to be with my sister and my brother's families, and grandma and grandpa again.
