Rock Climbing at Ross Park Lava rock trail

We went rock climbing on a Saturday in March.  Our good friends, the Fitch's, went with us.  Everyone went up, except me.  I have a *little* fear of heights.  But don't worry, I'm on the road to conquering it since.

Scott has really been getting into rock climbing, and he's been getting the rest of us into it along with him. He and I went last weekend, and after I got over my fear of heights, I had a great time with him.  I made it to the top of the wall on my 2nd try.  I had to do it, since Tyler and Emalyn made it to the top in their class they took there.  ha ha.  There is no competitiveness in our family.  At all.

Tyler and Emalyn both made it all the way up.  They are pros since taking the rock climbing class this winter.  They were awesome!

Even Krysta got in on it and climbed part of the way up.

I didn't get any photos of Scott climbing, but here he is at the top of his climb!

A Riddle...

What do the following pictures have in common?

Answer:
They all happened in March.

First, we got tired of trying to fit all six of us around a table that was too big to fit in our kitchen, yet not big enough for all of us to sit around.  So we got ourselves a new kitchen dining set.  Complete with a bench on one side, so it takes up less space in our kitchen.  The old table had HUGE legs and feet that were situated under the table , but our new one just has four small legs at the corners, meaning that it is so much easier to sweep.  Easier sweeping =  a cleaner kitchen.  I am one happy momma!

My dear friend made this cake for me when I was released as the choir pianist after 5 1/2 years.  So sweet and so creative!

Tyler and Emalyn's elementary school had a Diversity night.  Emalyn got influenza and had to miss it (so sad!), but Tyler, Krysta and I had lots of fun.  This is us in the Japanese room, and they are beating the drum.

Russell's new cast-Feb 21

I'm not going to share too much here, since I already wrote all about this on my other blog, but Russell got his new (4th) cast on Feb 21 at Shriner's hospital.  Everything went pretty smoothly that day, and he is dealing better with this cast than he ever has before.  He's walking up and down stairs now (!!) and his muscles are getting really strong.  We're so proud of him and how far he's come in the last year!

Megan's birthday

Russell and I got to go to Utah for Megan's birthday!  I was very excited that I got to be with her on her day. It worked out that it was the day before Russell's next cast at Shriner's.

First, they all waited so patiently while I fed Russell and put him to bed, and then watched me eat dinner, after they were all finished.  Then we had yummy brownies, sang happy birthday and watched her open her presents.

Wyatt was pretty tired by the time we got to the presents.

Megan's lovely family.

Everyone in this photo looks a bit strange.  But I didn't know I look like that when I eat...

I don't know what was going through my mind during this picture, but it must have been something pretty awesome to have me looking so proud.   Proably something about how awesome and yummy that dinner was.  It was Greek Gyros and Greek salad.  They were so yummy.

Scott's birthday

Even though it's been a couple of months since his birthday, I still remember it pretty well.  Or at least I thought I did until I looked at the pictures.
Scott and I were both looking at these photos, and it doesn't seem to be his best photo-taking day ever.  You'll see what I mean.  But with his permission, I decided to include them anyway, because it's kinda funny how miserable he looks in some of these.
And then I remembered what he'd done that weekend.  He was Scoutmaster, and he had just returned from an overnighter with all his boys a few hours before these were taken.  He had not slept well the night before AT ALL, as is common for Scoutmasters.
The birthday boy.  He couldn't contain his excitement.

Enjoying some birthday laughs, in his new camping chair.

A cute picture, with Emalyn and Krysta, but I'm so sad it's out of focus.  Dratted camera...

It was a great day.  We love our dad!  Scott just gets more amazing every year-which is saying alot for those of us who know how amazing he was to begin with.  I love him more every year, and I am one lucky wife to have a man who is as honorable, kind, loving, GOOD, handsome, and hard-working.  I look forward to what changes come in the next year!

Valentine's Day school boxes!

This year, the kids got REALLY creative with their Valentine boxes, as you will see:

Tyler made a Valentine scary snake box

Emalyn made an elaborate mailbox (complete with a flag!)

And Krysta wanted a "big box" with a "big hole".

We had a lot of fun making them together.

Culinary skills and photo shoot

Emalyn decorated these brownies to take to activity days in February.  I think we have a budding cake decorator :)

Those blue eyes just pop at me and I just don't think there is any two-yr old more adorable...

Again...could you resist this face?  Gotta love it when the girls help him get dressed warmly to go outside, hence the pink gloves.

Beautiful Emalyn
