In the last few months I've heard the hymn, "It Is Well With My Soul" several times, performed several different ways. My favorite is by Dustin Christensen from the Album, Nearer: A New Collection of Favorite Hymns. However, I also recently learned the story behind the man who wrote the words, Horatio Spafford. It is an incredible story. I wanted to share it here because it is a story of someone who lost almost everything, through which his faith and his trust in the love the Savior has for all of us, was strengthened. He was a Christian. His story helps me remember that no matter what happens in life, our Heavenly Father is always there and that "the Lord loveth whom He chasteneth" D&C 95:1
Someone put his story with the hymn and some of the words in a youtube video. If you want to see it go to: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T8_EfDqF7YI

What an amazing man! Thank you so much for sharing. I can always use reminders like this to help me get over my "trials".
I love the side quotes too- you are an amazing superhero! Love you.
I agree with everything Meg wrote. I needed this today, more than even I knew. thanks Amy. I love you!
ps. update on the side quotes: Weston is now going to dress up as "Obi-one-ki-nobody" for halloween. Not sure what that entails yet, but I promise you'll get to see pictures!
Wow! I hear these stories, and they inspire me. But deep down, I must admit that I pray it doesn't happen to me. Thanks for posting this. I really only listen to Hillary Weeks, but love to hear of new songs. Or old ones I didn't know about!
I love your side quotes! I hope you don't take us to the zoo this time... and leave us! Ha ha! ;) My kids are SO excited to come! I had to laugh, the other day, we were talking with the kids about visiting you guys, and Lily said, "We get to see Aunt Amy, and Uncle Scott, and Emalyn, and the other Emalyn!" Kids are hilarious! So Krysta's new name is the other Emalyn! :)
I watched this last week, but it took me away from your blog, so I forgot to comment. And tell you "thanks!" That is so amazing! What an inspiring story of faith.
Thanks, I really enjoyed this.
