Today, I took both my girls to the doctor. Krysta had her two month check-up (she's doing great!!) and got her shots (yuck, yuck! she's miserable.) We also found out that the mark that she's got on her foot is a hemangioma (yea, say that 5 times really fast). That's the same thing that Emalyn has on her side that she's had since birth, for all those of you who remember and know what I'm talking about. Nothing to worry about, unless it gets a cut, in which case she would bleed too much and we'd have to take her to the dr. Emalyn woke up with a fever, sore throat, and barking cough. So we took her in to the dr too. Turns out she has croup! This is the first time anyone has been sick in our family since Krysta was born, so it makes sense that we'd get hit kinda hard. But I feel really blessed that Emalyn is the only one sick so far and that we've all been so healthy...knock on wood.
Tonight we made brownies after dinner and Tyler asked what color they were going to be. Scott and I had a hard time holding in the laughter after that one (when Tyler was no longer paying attention, of course).
Krysta is so full of smiles now (other than this afternoon because of the shots) and loves to coo and "talk" to me. I just love this baby stage. Who knew that making a baby smile could just make life worth while? Oh, and guess what? All of your prayers must be working, because Krysta has been sleeping through the night for most nights for about a week and a half now! So thank you all very much for your thoughts and prayers. We're all much happier and better rested now.
Scott has had to work overtime for the last two weeks and he'll have to every week until the end of February. I hate the late days, he leaves at 5:30am and gets home at 8:30pm. They are so long! But then, I really shouldn't complain. He only has to do one day a week like that, and I think about Cheryl and Blake with his busy season right now, and Carolyn and Jeremy with his business trips, and then I know that I have no right to complain.
Anyway, I better go, the brownies are almost done. Anyone want to come over and have some with us?

The adventures of our new family of 5
Tonight for dinner we had oodles of noodles soup (glorified ramen), jello, and rolls. Doesn't that sound like a kid's "meal-come-true"? Well, did we mention that our children are picky? As Tyler was eating his soup, he doubtfully said, "Daddy, are you sure this is yummy?" He's still not convinced.
Emalyn has now had three weeks in Primary, after graduating from nursery. She's still adjusting. Last Sunday, I was subbing as the primary pianist, so I got to be in there with her and Tyler. Suddenly, in the middle of sharing time, she and the little girl who'd been sitting next to her stood up and started walking toward the door (with their arms folded so they'd be reverent). When I went to get her to go back to her seat, she told me that they were "done with primary and we need to leave and go on a walk." This was said pretty loudly, in the front of the room, so everyone was chuckling. Apparently, Emalyn was the instigator, since she did it again yesterday, only with the little boy sitting next to her this week. Hopefully, this week we can convince her to stay in primary.
Krysta is still keeping us up a lot at night. But she is crying a lot less ever since we started giving her medicine for her acid reflux. We have hopes that it'll help her sleep more soon... She's getting so big! Last week she weighed in at 10 lbs 10 oz.
I got a new challenge last week. Our ward choir director came and asked if I'd be the choir pianist for the song they're learning for ward conference. (Turns out we only have a ward choir if ward conference is coming up.) I happily said yes, before looking at the music. See, ever since I got sick, I've been on the "don't ask her to do anything list," which is understandable, but I was really excited to be more involved in our ward. However, I'm not exactly regretting it yet, but I am having second thoughts about saying yes so quickly after practicing for a week. It's super hard! We had our first practice yesterday, and, well, it was interesting. At the end of the practice, the choir members said they'd pray for me. So that pretty well sums up how it went.
We have had so much snow! And it doesn't melt either. This weather reminds me of Quebec. Scott has really bad luck with the snow. Every time he shovels the driveway, it snows again within the next 24 hours. If he doesn't shovel, then it doesn't snow for 3 or 4 days. So mostly, we just don't shovel anymore. So everyone has to hike through about a foot of snow to get to our door. Does this count as a public apology? If so, we're sorry.
