Blue Bears and Purple Butterflies

This was Emalyn's first year on an all-girls team-let me tell you, they were COMPETITIVE! Her team called themselves the Purple Butterflies and they had a great season. Poor Emalyn got sick a lot this season and actually missed 3 of the games due to getting Strep Throat over and over. She actually played in one game where she was very sick-I didn't know that she was-and still ran pretty fast in that game. She's turning out to be one great player. In the first photo below, she's the goalie, one of her best positions. She is a great ball blocker.Tyler just loves soccer more and more every season. His goal this season was to kick the ball 3 times in a row-showing that he can follow through with the ball-and he made it! He is also a great goalie, but he showed his greatest improvement in being a better forward. His team did not name themselves all season, but Tyler wanted their name to be the Blue Bears. In the picture above, Tyler is goalie and is blocking a goal tried by the other team, and in the picture below, he is just about the kick the ball (he has the navy blue hoodie on under his light blue uniform). This last picture is of a butterfly on Emalyn's finger that had a sad misfortunate incident with Scott-although he says that he didn't MEAN to hit it-who died later that day. Emalyn took very careful care of it until it passed away.

Who's the great photographer? Nice pictures! We are so lucky because we got to watch them play. And lucky that the weather wasn't that cold. CONGRATULATIONS to TYLER for meeting his goal. And to Emalyn for taking great care of the butterfly. I miss all of you very very much.

Is it just me, or is there something really sweet about that last picture? What a sweet girl!

And tough--I could never be a goalie. I'm way too scared of the ball! Tell them both I am super impressed!!!

Blue Bears and Purple Butterflies, kids! So fun. I LOVE those pigtails on Emalyn. And way to go Tyler, setting goals and reaching them! Wonderful!
